Q: Is the Release Candidate
"crippled" with some features not available?
Q: What if I start using v6
with its new features and then the release candidate expires? Will I have to go
back to v5 (or earlier) and lose these new features?
Q: I'm having trouble
understanding the new XML format for editing and creating customizable files
like menus and toolbars. What is the best way to move forward? For Visual CADD specific info, probably the best starting point for customizing the v6 files is to start with a v5 customization file and have the new configuration editor (on the Utilities menu) convert it for you. To do that, just start the editor and when it opens, select File>Open from the menu. Navigate to your v5 customization folders (e.g. System) and open the file that you want to convert. The editor will offer to translate the file for you. Once it is translated be sure to save it in the correct v6 folder. Once you get used to the formatting (known as elements in XML) it will probably make more sense than the old ASCII text format, because with XML elements you have a "tag" around each entry that provides some explanation as to what it means.
